Allergy Update!

Some news – bad news first: we’ve learned that daughter isn’t just allergic to corn-based products. She’s VERY allergic to them. Mixed good/bad news: we found information regarding which products, packaging, etc., are problems for corn-allergic humans. N.B. Corn products are NOT just in food products!

As a result, I will be updating my recipes to be as certain as I can regarding corn products. So far, I’ve been working on my sauces since they are in lots of dishes. But I’m far from done! I appreciate your patience.

The good news is that we can eat delicious meals without corn and other identified allergens.

Here are some helpful web sites:

Many of these websites also have information regarding other allergens.

The Food Allergy Research and Education website is a great starting point, in general

Kristi, who runs the Managing a Corn Allergy site is personally invested with avoiding corn products. Plus, she is a registered dietician.

The Corn Allergy Girl is VERY helpful, if a little wordy and scary, yet very beneficial. I highly recommend it! To my knowledge, she doesn’t have a degree in nutritional science, but she has researched the topic and is VERY invested in understanding corn issues.

This site is run by the Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY, Pediatric Nutrition group.

Since my whole family has gluten issues, this site has become important for us: the Gluten-Free Society. Luckily, they have a page on Hidden Corn Based Ingredients.
